A long history is associated with The Castle Hotel in Conwy dating back to the time of Edward I and when Conwy Castle was built.

The hotel of today is situated on the former grounds of the Cisterian Abbey that stood in Conwy before even the castle. Today some remains of the abbey can be found by St. Church in behind the hotel.

Edward I relocated the monks of the abbey south to what is today Maenan Abbey before he created the town of Conwy and erected the castle.

The building is formed of two former hostelries, The Castle by far the larger, and the 15th century King's Head.

In Victorian times the separate buildings became one and were given a facelift.

Many famous guests have stayed within the rooms of The Castle Hotel in Conwy from Thomas Telford, Stephenson, and Wordworth.

The hotel has even played host to royalty with the Queen of Romania enjoying a lunch whilst visiting nearby Llandudno in the 20th century.

The Castle Hotel has its own restaurant, Dawson's, that is very popular and renowed for serving excellent food from local produce.

Prices are very reasonable and are cooked by the Head Chef along with his team.
